In this chapter, we learn that Mizuho is still missing, and that the search party is looking for her. The narrator tells us that he was once in love with someone who was hopeless, but then he heard his inner voice speaking to him through his cell phone. The voice must have been God's voice, because he was never meant for anyone to be with him. The man is now a spiritual counselor, and the narrator's mission is to share the message of the man's work with others. He feels that the scent of the woman's love revives lost memories, and he's offering a 50 percent chance of winning her back. He's worried that the woman will hate him if he doesn't find her. He tells the group that he'll be gone for a bit, but that he hasn't seen nanba yet. He asks the group to stop wandering around the city, and to stay within eyesight. He also tells them that he has the police dogs with him, and they should stay within their eyesight. The group is worried that he won't be able to do a good job, but he promises to have coffee with them.
