In this chapter, we learn that the man who spurns women's advances is the one who makes them go out of their way to pursue the "regional produce" of the "Alternative Religious" . We learn that in order to make a show, the two men have to take their phones and listen to the other men's shows on the other side of the country. The men, however, have no choice but to accept the job because they've made a lot of money since the first time they heard about it. They're so excited to be working for a living that they don't even want to leave their jobs. The narrator asks the men if they're married, and they all agree that they aren't. Then the narrator asks them what they imagine the man to be like, and the men tell him that they imagine him to be a "skonsky" , a kind of person who loves scones. He also tells the men that he's written a scenario for the show that they'll have to listen to on their phones. He's nervous that the women are going to kidnap him, but he says he doesn't care if they do it, because he can use his "burner phone" to do whatever he wants with his show. He says he'd like to make the most out of the job, but now he thinks about it, he probably won't be there for a while.
