The chapter opens with a conversation between chen and sin. chen tells sin that he's off to work. He's pretty sure he told chen that he was letting him go after the festival. . He doesn't care if the stand is empty or not, since he only sells curry that he knows will sell out in every year. He also tells sida that he didn't do anything wrong, and he was popular with the customers. He tells chen to screw his dream land. He says he'll give him a hand, and they start talking about a hostess club in a town called susukino, where they'll be looking for a job. They're not supposed to act like lovers, he says, since they don't eat together. He wants to keep his plate of soup curry on the table, and she wants it on the plate. He complains that he has to go to bed every night, and that she's creeping him out of his room. He thinks that she just wants to make sure that he gets the job he wants. He wonders what's going to happen to him if his money runs out, and then he wonders what kind of guy he'd be with if he had to come home drunk every time he came home from work. And then he thinks about how drunk he would be if he collapsed in the entrance of his apartment. He decides to take the job on the radio.
