In this chapter, we are introduced to a new character named Miss Percy. She is a former teacher at the school who is now a member of the school patrol team. She has come to protect Percy from harm, but she has also come to help Percy escape from the school. When she sees that the bandage on Percy's leg is coming loose, she tells her that she will wrap it again for her. She tells Percy that she is almost healed, but that the healing team has been fussing over her wounds. She says that she would like to go back to the school and rest, but the cracks in the road ahead are too big for her to see. She explains that cracks in space-time are actually made using magic to create portals for quick travel outside of time and space. The objects in the gap between the two portals are empty, but they retain their magical powers. The bag that Percy gave her is the first present she has ever received in her life. She thanks her for giving her the bag, and says that since she met her, she has been giving her trouble.
