Ellie tells Lockwood that she wishes she were a lady so that she could have more freedom in the school. Lockwood tells her that the house has strict rules and that she should obey them. Ellie is surprised to learn that she is second in the class. Lockwood says that he is not interested in gossiping about what has happened between Ellie and Lockwood. He says that Lockwood has been practicing magic with him this semester and that he has changed the subject. He tells Ellie that he will not be returning to the school after this break. Lockwood suggests that Ellie join the school patrol as a trainee. He asks Ellie to join the patrol as well.
