About This Chapter
The chapter opens in the disciplinary office of karcia college, where Charles Raphael, the college's second-in-command, is on his way to the office. He asks to be excused from class for a moment, but Charles tells him that the office is on duty. He then accuses Charles of causing a student to sprain an ankle, and he accuses him of doctoring the report of the exam in order to gain an unfair advantage in the upcoming exam. He also accuses Charles and his friends of causing the student to fall down a flight of stairs by herself. Charles denies that he did anything wrong, but he accuses his friends and himself of causing her injury. He tells Charles that nature magic, one of the six subjects in Karcia's education, is a foundation subject that trains one's natural abilities. Charles then accuses his friend of repeatedly disturbing the class and of talking behind the back of the student. Charles gives him a form to join the school's inspection and maintenance committee, and Charles promises to arrange for his friend's work.
