About This Chapter
In this short scene, the protagonist is trying to find a way to get back to his aunt's house. He's worried that his aunt will tell him that he's going back to school, but she doesn't seem to want to tell him. The protagonist asks his aunt if he should tell her where he is going, and she tells him that it's time for class. He asks her if she would have told him if he had asked about her instead, and her response is that he should have told her what he was going to do. She asks him to tell her why he was leaving, and he tells her that he was just trying to get away from his aunt. He says that he didn't know how to use a teleportation spell, and that the exchange spell could swap positions of two objects deemed to be of equal value. He also tells his aunt that he has no idea if the spell works on a zbote or a t-stma, and wonders why they're looking at him. He thinks that they are looking for him because he is a human, and not a class-g student. He tells them that he thinks they are probably looking for a statue, because he thinks that a statue would be dumb enough to exchange positions with one, and a human would probably be stupid enough to do the same thing.
