In this chapter, Desdemona explains how she came to be in the mirror, watching the fight between the undead and the vampires. She tells the audience that she would have chosen not to be a part of the fight, but that she is so selfless that she has chosen to stay in the fight. She asks the audience to imagine what it would be like if she were a hero, and she tells them that she can send Mina to the other side of the world.
