This chapter opens with a conversation between Amitabha and the Governess. The Governess asks Amitabha to tell her about what happened in the village, and he agrees to do so. He tells her that he has been carrying a bronze ring around with him, and that he feels like he is in the middle of the "warm spring" . He says that he is here to help Amitabha tell him who killed her, and to find her heads back. He then tells her about the family who has just returned from the mountains, and they are coming. He swears that he did not call, but he swears it is his voice. He explains that they were in the "supernatural environment" of the spring naked before, and then they dressed themselves up and left. Now they are back, but they are still wearing their bathrobe. He asks if they would like to have dinner, and when they do, he tells them that he saw them three wandering around the cafeteria earlier. He thinks that the waitress came to check if they were sleepingwalking, so that must have been some kind of illusion. He wants a cultivator to help him drain the spring, and says that his leg must be around here, because he thinks the case is much larger than the one he saw earlier.
