Dr. Rivers tries to calm down the patient, but Rivers cannot bring himself to do so. Rivers realizes that the patient's spirit has asked him not to smoke in the room, and he realizes that she is already dead. Rivers tells the patient to move away from the room and to come back when the time is right. The patient wakes up, and Rivers tells her that she has a wound to her body and that she needs to go to the operating room. Rivers says that he picked up the wound when he was getting his license, and that he wishes he had known more about medicine
