The next-door neighbor, a man named Xinglang, enters and introduces himself as the owner of a nearby noodle restaurant. He tells his friend that his wife, whom he calls "bai," is ill and should be taken to the hospital. The man tells his wife that she should not eat in the middle of the night because she is gaining weight and should work out in the morning. When the man returns, the man tells him to leave the matter alone and move his body to the "freezing cabinet" .
