The doctor tries to explain that they don't have to break any rules because they only do business with honest customers. The old man asks if he has any of the family amulets, and the old man says that he has used every one of them. The last piece is in his crotch, and he almost forgot that he still has one last piece. He asks the doctor why he didn't tell him earlier, but the doctor says that there are no last pieces left. He says that if the guards hadn't prevented him from going inside, he would have stopped all of this. The doctor asks if they can go inside together, but he says that the guard was too scared. He wonders if he will die now.
