About This Chapter
In this final scene of the series, the narrator laments the fact that he has not been able to share his food with his friends. He tells his friend that he is going back to Los Angeles, and he asks him to hurry up and tell his mother what has happened. The narrator tells him that he was full of life when he returned to Japan five years ago, and that he never mised for anyone, but he is not the one who knows him best. He asks if he has been putting in too much effort lately, and the young man replies that he does not. He says that he feels a little better knowing that someone has been trying to help him, and asks the narrator to take care of him.
