About This Chapter
In this chapter, the narrator tells his family about how he saved them from disaster. He tells them that he has been hiding in the house since the sixth volume, and that his mother has refused to be friends with him. He also tells them about the upcoming divorce between his father and his mother. He says that he still loves his mother, but that she has chosen an "unremarkable person" like him. His father, he says, does not care about his family anymore. He adds that he will have to go back to his mother's house to ask her for help. The narrator tells the family that only a first-born son would be able to find his mother like him, and they should stay in order to get her.
