In this chapter, Tommo tries to convince his readers that he's not crazy about going on a secret mission. He's just worried about how his parents will react to the idea of him and his friend going on an adventure together. Tommo says he'll be cool with that, since he doesn't want to upset his parents. He also says that he can't face his parents if they're on the same secret mission as him and Tommo, since they'll know that Tommo's going to talk to them about what's up. He says he won't say anything to his parents about it, since it would be weird for them to know that he and his friends are going on such a secret trip. He tells Tommo to just go ahead and do what he wants to do. He then tells him about how he fell off a ladder when he was a kid and went to college on an insurance. After that, he says, he got busy with his house work and didn't have as much time to think about his mission. It's been about three years since the last time Tommo and tsutsusui went on such an adventure. He asks if tsusui has been well recently, and mitsuya says he hasn't been well. They used to be very close when they were younger, but now they are so far apart that they don't really know each other. They both say that they've been studying up on the history of kamakura, and that they hope that the people of the city enjoy their selves.
