Okay, so it's been a year since the end of the previous chapter, and now we're back in Hiroshi's apartment. He's happy to be back, but he's bummed that he hasn't been able to enjoy his vacation as much as he'd like. He tells his roommate, Tsutsui, that he wishes he could spend more time with him. He asks if he can take a bath, and Tsutu says he'll do it later, but Hiroshi doesn't seem to want to do it. Hiroshi asks him if he had a good vacation, and he replies that he did, but that he didn't have anything to write about when he came back from his trip. He then asks Tsuetsui if he went to the amusement park in Toshima, which is where he and his roommate are going to go on their vacation. He says that he'm not really sure what he wants to say, but then he says he just wants to know if he ever hated himself, and that now he feels like he can change that. He also says that his mom and his sister are going on vacation, so he wants them to be able to do whatever they want with their lives. He wants to make sure that they're able to have a good time, too, and then he asks if everyone has submitted their "post secondary choices" , which means they've decided to go into the professions instead of going into the education system or into the work force. This is a big deal, because it means that Hiroshi is going to be an important person to his family and friends in the future, and Hiroshi isn't sure that he would've thought that would happen in the summer, when he was so depressed.
