The chapter opens with a conversation between Nemo and Nemo's younger sister, Valeria. Valeria tells Nemo that she'd like to talk to him while they're on a walk. Nemo says that he's not sure what he wants to tell her, but he does want to know what she's thinking. He wants to know if she thinks it's okay for a friend to kiss another friend, or if she can force her tongue into her mouth. Nemo doesn't want to hear it, but Valeria says that she can't. She wants Nemo to know that she loves him, and that he loves her too, too. Nemo tells Valeria that he knew she was crazy when they were in high school, and he says that's why he'll never be able to love her like that. He also says that Valeria is not his type, so they'd have to go separate universities.
