This is a locked chapterChapter 31 The Limit of a Lie
About This Chapter
The chapter opens with the narrator lamenting the fact that it's been three weeks since the end of his vacation. He's not studying for the aptitude exam that's to be held the next day, so he doesn't have much time to think about his feelings for Yukari. The narrator tells us that he's just been watching a movie when he hears the sound of a girl running away from the theater. He realizes that the girl is not like him, and he wonders if he should have been hanging out with Yukari and the other students. He wonders if Yukari would have been with them all the time, too, if he were just looking down on them and doing them a favor. He also wonders if there's something up with him that makes him want to hang out with his friends. He thinks that Yukari gave him a present for Christmas, and that he was glad to receive it. He asks if the girl he loves is the girl who played Romeo in the movie, and the narrator tells him that she is. He tells the narrator that there are so many people in the world who want to talk to Yukari, that everyone wants to be friends with him. He says that everyone has noticed that he likes nisaka, but that he hasn't yet gotten to know her. He then asks the narrator if he has done anything to make him mad, and if he'd done anything at all to make the narrator mad. He replies that he hadn't done anything, and wonders if the narrator is just asking if he had a girlfriend, or if he already has a girlfriend. When the narrator says that he always looks at the girl's profile to see if she's changed since he first met her, the narrator responds that he didn't mean to ask if he was already in love with her, but just wanted to know if it was worth the effort. He adds that he still likes the narrator, and asks if he would like to go to the train station with him to see what Yukari is up to. He agrees that it would be nice if he did, and says that if he does, he'll be glad to go. He continues to ask the narrator about who he likes, and when he finally gets to the point of asking, he says that the narrator just smiled at him because he felt that he had done him wrong. He goes on to say that he feels the same way about the narrator as he does about everyone else, and
