The narrator and his friend, Yukari, arrive at the hotel where they are staying. Yukari tells the narrator that she has heard that they are going on a trip together and that she will take her bags with her. The narrator is surprised to find that Yukari has never met a woman before, and she wonders why she is excited to be on such a trip with her family. She asks if there is a cat around, and the narrator says that he saw one and went to follow it. He tells her that he does not like the idea of having to say three times that he did not want to fight, and that he would not go on the trip for the sake of fighting
