The chapter opens with Mina and Harada in the garden. Mina tells Harada that she has to go to the hospital because her fingers have been cut off and she is bleeding profusely. Harada tells Mina that she should tie her hand up with a thin piece of cloth and give it to the doctor. Mina says that they should not touch the threads on the bandage on Harada's fingers because they are "razor sharp" . She says that Harada looks happy and that he will soon make a move. Mina asks Harada if they should clean up the area where the bodies are buried. She tells him that they need to do so because there are a lot of "evidence" that needs clearing up. Mina thinks they should dig up the graves and move the lot to make it easier for the city to dig them up. She also says that she will not be there when the city digs up the lot because she will have to say goodbye to Harada. The chapter ends with Mina saying that she hopes Harada does not end up dead.
