The herald is horrified to see the body of a child lying on the ground. He realizes that the herald has come to protect the child from harm. He wonders if the child is a "dull or some thing" , and wonders why the child won't fight back. He asks the herald to cut the tendon on the child's arm so that the child will not be able to harm him. The herald tells him to do so, and the two men begin to fight.
