Even if they manage to capture the girl, they'll probably just turn back to their normal lives. That's what Shmoo says. Shmoo wants to bring the girl back with him. He wants to use her father as a tool to get her to listen to him. But Shmoo doesn't think that's a good idea, since he's not a hired hand. He suggests that they ask sagawa for help, but Shmoo isn't sure he'd want to tell him the whole story. He thinks that it would be better if they just ran up to the guy in the thicket and waited for him to meet them halfway. They're so far away, Shmoo thinks, that it might be better to wait and see what he can do. He's worried that they're too far away. They don't know if they've gone too far, and Shmoo wonders if they should call out to takafumi and see if he'll react right away. He says that he was too preoccupied with fumi and not enough on the subject of the incantation. They didn't want to take him along with them, he says, because they wanted to settle the matter with him and his family. He adds that the incantation was meant to turn everyone into heralds, not modern ones, either, and that there must be a way to get there. He wonders why they were so eager to get back home, since stasis is "incredibly dull" and the only people who can get through it are the heralds.
