About This Chapter
In this chapter, Tommo explains how the stone can be used to kill people. He says that the first thing to do is to kill the goddess Ryogoku, then the goddess's daughter, and then the rest of the group. He adds that he can't kill them all with one blow, but he can kill the grand daughter with two blows. He also says that he doesn't think it's wise to touch the other group of people, since they're all idols. Tommo also explains that the society that he and his father belong to is based on the idea that people shouldn't be following their own values, even if they've got the stone. The society, he says, was created by a guy named Sagawa, who discovered that it was possible to use the stone to enter the afterlife. Sagawa's idea was to form a kind of mutual aid society, similar to a credit card system. After years of using the stone as a decoration, Sagawa discovered that the stone could also be used for entering the afterlife, and Sagawa was the one who came up with the idea. He tells Tommo that one nut died in the afterlife long ago, and that's why he's never used the stone for anything. He asks his father to put the stone down and leave, but his father refuses to do so, saying that killing the stone is just one of many rules that humans don't understand. He points out that his grandfather already knew where his uncle's body would be, so killing the stalled isn't the only thing he can think of to do.
