In this chapter, we learn that the ghost's body is not healing, and that it will be pointless to chase after him since he can still sense where they are. This means that he can stay hidden from them, and they'll be out of options. They'll have no choice but to keep chasing after him, and he'll recover for real, after all. This is a good thing, because it means that they won't be able to kill him, even if his body doesn't last long. The ghost asks if he's going to be killed, and if so, what will happen to him? He's not going to die, he says, because he has no desire to be a human anymore. He wants to be released from stasis, and this is the only way he can do that.
