The next morning, the narrator laments the fact that he can't kiss the girl he loves. He tells himself that he's going to have to watch over Mina until she can go back to her family in Japan. He's also worried about his friend, who's on a business trip with his boss. The narrator wonders why Mina didn't tell him about her feelings for the man before the trip, and he wonders if they figured out a way to get rid of him. He also wonders if Mina's sister, Shu-Kyu, is in love with him, and she stole the name "Kukai" from him on the school trip. He asks his dad if he can go home for a few days, but he doesn't know if he'll be able to convince his dad to do so.
