The next morning, the Governess wakes up in the middle of the night. She's worried that something is going to happen to her, and she's afraid that it's not her bed. The Governess asks the servant if he's been guarding the house by himself, and the servant says that he has been doing this for a long time. He also tells her to drink a little bit of water, and to put medicine on it so that it won't make him uncomfortable. The servant tells her that she should stand up so that she can do the same thing, and not say anything to her friend, who's sleeping. He then asks her if she has another bad dream. She says that she just had one about that time she attacked daoul, and that she thought it'd be better if she reconciled with her friend. She tells the servant that she has to go back to school so she'll leave the next morning.
