About This Chapter
The scene opens with a young man, who has just returned from a night of drinking with his father. The young man tells his father that he is hungry and wants to be fed before he is sent back to his mother's house. The boy, who is 24 years old, complains that his father has ruined his mood by talking too much and drinking too much. He complains that he has not had a drink in a long time, and that he does not drink at all. He asks his father why he did not spit the alcohol out when he drank it, and the young man responds that he would have done so if he were a human being. He then asks why his father did not come out of the house when he coughed and sneezed, and he asks if he is sick. He says that he had not drank at all, but that the water tasted "a little weird" . He goes home, and when he wakes up, he realizes that he cannot believe what he has just seen.
