In this short scene, the narrator laments the fact that his life has come to an abrupt end. He wonders if he would have tried harder if he had known his life would be so easy to end. The narrator is interrupted by the news that a member of his national shooting team has been involved in a road accident. The driver of the car has fled the scene. The news is that the injured man will likely not be able to participate in the upcoming Olympic Games, but he hopes that he will return to his former glory as an athlete. The young man, known as taebum, has not been able to compete since his accident three months ago, and the narrator is certain that his career will be over if he does not return to the field of competition. He accuses the young man of being a "douchebag" and a "bastard" who "spreads rumors" because of his inferiority complex.
