The chapter opens with a description of the wine list. The wine list is full of all the things the boss has brought out of his house over the past nine years. The painter tells the story of how he used to give up half of his paintings when he was young. His father decided to take the leftover stuff from his attic and burn it in a small mountain. He says that this is the biggest fire he has ever seen in his life. He tells the painter that he wanted to come to the studio when they had free time and not when he insisted on coming when they did not care about his schoolwork. He adds that his son will not come back. The group owner interrupts the conversation to announce that the studio is preparing a gathering meal.
