In this chapter, we learn that the underground parking lot where the Underground Man and his friends live is very small, and that the only way to get there is to park in the middle of the lot. The Underground Man tells us that when his cousin was a young girl, there were very few people who had cars, and the parking lot was very small. When they returned home, the lot was already full, so his uncle tried to find a place in the corner, but the underground man's voice was too high to allow him to do so. When his cousin woke up, she realized that the shadow behind her was actually an extra shadow, and she asked her father what was wrong. He told her that it was not good for her to believe in "baseless stories" and that she should not move. He then tells her that the second half of the story was not as bad as the first half, but that she still had to endure it. He tells her to have some conscience, and then the story ends, everyone returns to their dorm rooms.
