The scene opens with Fu qushui, the former general of the Haibane cavalry, lying on the ground, injured because of a quarrel with the king's wife. He is now the master of the academy, but he is still too loyal to the emperor to protect him. The scene ends with the cat's entrance, and the audience is left to wonder who the cat is.
