About This Chapter
The doctor tells the prince regent that he has won, and that he is not far from him. The prince regent says that he does not think he has already won, but the doctor reminds him that he killed all his relatives when he was thirteen years old. He says that if the prince dares to take another step, he will be committing "regicide" . The doctor says that the people were just sick, and they wanted to find a doctor. The court had sent out doctors to treat the patients for free, but they kept threatening to open the gates with weapons. From that moment, they were "no longer just innocent 'patients' " . If the prince should let them go, the doctor says, he would have lost anyway, because the prince had ordered the doctor to clear the cause of the plague, and the doctor did nothing wrong. He said that the doctor had planted some accomplices to help him in the imperial examinations, and he had arrested them all. He asks the doctor why the prince came to his rescue when the prince tried to kill him, and she says that she has always been alone, afraid of losing. She says that it is not part of a plot, but that she does not know if it is still a trap.
