The young man is named xiechun gui and he is fighting with a general named li wuding. The two men are enemies of one another. The narrator says that he has been admiring the general since he was a young man. He says that only when he can win the general in a battle can he become his assistant. He asks the emperor if he can appoint him as his assistant, and the emperor says yes. They are both loyal to their respective countries, but they are now willing to work together in order to achieve their goals.
