The scene opens with the servant of the emperor, who is trying to protect the young man from harm. He tells the servant that the emperor has instructed him to move the prince to the Jing-Yang palace. The servant tells him that the prince is waiting for him inside the palace. When the servant asks where the prince has gone, the servant replies that he has gone through all sorts of trouble to get to this point. The young man feels that the servant has gone too far and is now trying to kill him.
