This is a locked chapter73rd Period: Dad on a Weekday
About This Chapter
Another day, the narrator says, he's not sure he can defeat the "titans" because he can't figure out a way to defeat them. He's got a deal with his dad: he'll give him the key to the basement if he shows up at the right time. He asks his dad to take him there so he can find out what's in the basement. The basement, he tells his dad, contains all sorts of fruits and vegetables, which will make it easy for him to find the documents he needs to defeat the titans. But, dad, you're not going to be able to just open the basement door and find all the documents. He says he built the basement because he wanted to hide the documents so he wouldn't have to embarrass himself by revealing them to anyone else. So, he says, if everyone else is embarrassed, he can just go into the basement and open the door for them. But dad says, no way, because it's his job to put together the documents in the first place. The narrator says he'd be embarrassed if he could just open this door for everyone else, but dad says that's unfair, since he built it himself. He tells the narrator to tell him a story about an embarrassing moment. The first one is embarrassing when you accidentally wear your mom's pants to school, or when your dog barks at you and runs crying at you. The second one is when you run crying and wet yourself on the way to the bathroom after watching a scary movie. But the narrator is worried that his story will be too embarrassing for everyone to laugh at, so he says he won't tell anyone else's embarrassing story. But he does want to hear the story of the other day, when he accidentally peeped in the bathroom.
