The narrator tells us that he's going to start working tomorrow at a convenience store. He's got a part-time job at the same store where Nehemiah works, so he can earn some extra money. He wants to be the first person to earn a full-time wage at the store, and he doesn't want to work for someone who's just trying to make a living. He tells the narrator that he could become the number one part-timer in the store any time he pleases. He also wants to make sure that the other two employees don't get a raise because they're working for the same company. The narrator is all, "Gee, I wish I could be the boss of this store!" . But he also knows that he has no choice: he has to become the boss.
