About This Chapter
The narrator and his classmates discuss their upcoming field trip to observe a class of students called "Titanics." The students will be divided into four groups, each with its own entrance exam. The first group consists of students who are "hardcore," the second group of students is "dumber of them," and the third group is "as smart as nothing" . The narrator wonders why the students are so hard-core. He wonders if they're on adderall, or something, and wonders if the students worry about their entrance exams in the first year. The group is supposed to observe another music class, and the narrator wonders if it's a music class at all. The students murmur that the music class is "illegal" and that the students think the music teachers are "scared monsters" but that the teachers are better than them at studying. They wonder if the teachers want the students to think that they work so hard that there's nothing they can do to compete with the students. They also wonder why they have to leave school so early in the morning.
