About This Chapter
Bertolt heads back to the hotel, where he is interrupted by the sound of a knock at the door. It is the voice of reiner, who has just returned from a wrestling match. He has just arrived at the hotel when he hears the knock. He realizes that the knock is coming from the apartment where he has been staying, and he realizes that it is the same apartment that he was staying in when he first arrived in the hotel. He asks reiner if he has a picture of an unknown woman, and reiner replies that he has one of the pictures of an unnamed woman. He then asks if he can borrow the picture for his own use, but reiner refuses, saying that the picture belongs to him. When reiner tells him that he is willing to give him his own picture, he says that this means that he wants to give up the picture of the unnamed woman that he had earlier asked him to borrow. He tells reiner that he cannot break free from the picture, and that he will have to find the one that he gave to reiner. He says that reiner has gone mad, and the picture has turned reiner into a "roided-out friend strangler" . He decides to use his fist to strike reiner in the arm, but he is surprised to find that his cutting arm has gotten buffified. He also realizes that his opponent is probably stronger than he thought. He wonders if he will be able to get high off his own supply of prostitutes, and wonders if annie will sue the jerks for their "rible stuff"
