The next morning, the narrator complains to his new roommate, Chiyoko, about his apartment's water leak. He's bummed that he can't share a room with Hasegawa, but Chiyoko assures him that he'll be able to find a room of his own. The narrator wonders where he's supposed to sleep, since he won't have a roommate to share a bed with. He also wonders how far it's going to take to get to work, and he wonders if people will think he and Chiyoko are in the middle of a riot.
