In this chapter, the narrator tells us that he's in love with a man named maki, but that he won't marry him because he is an "alpha" . The narrator explains that his mother was once a mistress, but when he was 4, she was discovered to be an "omega" , meaning that she was a member of a higher social class than her son. This is why he was added to the daido family registry, despite his mother's family's background. He's happy to be "an alpha," but he doesn't like the idea of being a "majesty." He wants to be a "regular person," he says, but he can't fall in love until he is "an omega." The narrator says that he wants to marry maki because he loves maki.
