She asks the girl if it is okay for her to stay in the house, and she says that she has already given her an answer. She then tells the girl that she can stay for a month, but that she will have to leave in a month. When the girl says that it is a month since they broke up, the narrator tells her that it was only because he had a second helper, and not because he was disgusted with the affair. She thinks that she would have been better off if she could absorb the lessons of the story.
