In this short scene, we are introduced to a young woman who has just returned from a trip to India. She is a former farmer's daughter, and we are told that she is now engaged to a man who is a member of the police force. We are also told that the young woman has been sent to the police station for questioning. The young woman, however, has not yet arrived at the station. The police officer tells her that he has been called to the station, and she is told that there is a rumor that she has been raped. The officer asks her to leave the station immediately, but she refuses, saying that she will not leave until she has had a chance to speak with the police officer. She tells the officer that she would like to see him, and the officer agrees to take her there.
