When the Governess learns that her parents have to move to a country, she stays behind so she can attend school on her own. When she finds out who she is, she is surprised to find that she has been given the keys to her room by her mother. The Governess and her friends are worried that she will live alone, but she assures them that she and her friend will manage the house together. She tells her friend that she lost her hairpin when she was searching for it, and she begs her to give it back if she can. She then tells her that she hates her friend more than she does, and that she wishes she could walk away from her. She says that she doesn't want to spend any more time with her friend, but that she must leave as soon as she can
