The next day, the Governess is out shopping with her brother. She tells him that her sister-in-law will not care about what she buys for her son because he is too skinny. The Governess tells her brother not to be too angry with her sister because she is feeling guilty. She says that her baby is fine and that she would never forgive herself in life if she did not forgive herself. She asks her brother if he can take back what he said. He says that he did not expect his sister - in-law to reject the things she bought for him. He tells her that his mother and he are used to her coming over to the house from time-to-time. He adds that he was not expecting her to reject these things as she spent the entire afternoon shopping for those things. He asks his brother what he should do. He replies that he should make her sister -in- law accept the apologies. He then asks his mother if she wants to find her uncle linke. She does not care what her son wears anyway.
