The chapter opens with a brief description of the events that took place at the bar. The narrator explains that he, his son, and a friend went to the bar to play. When they returned, the friend kissed the boy, and the boy fell asleep. When the boy woke up, he found that his brother, brother-in-law, had come to pick him up and kissed him again. The boy's mother explains that her son and the friend had been drinking, and that the friend was not able to control himself. When he came back, however, he did not have any alcohol in his system, and so the boy was left in the alley. The mother says that she does not want her son to marry "qing-qing" and that she will talk to him about it. She says that even though she wants him to marry her son, she will not agree to marry him if he is not willing to marry a woman who is not his wife.
