In this chapter, we are introduced to a new character, li lin. He is an assistant to the grand chief engineer of the new game, "Feverfire." He has just completed a test run of the game and has found many bugs in the game's code base. He asks the chief engineer if he has any clues about the problem. The chief engineer tells him to go and get him the debugger machine. He then asks the assistant if he can see anyone else besides him. The assistant tells him that there is no hope for humankind, that he has always been suppressed from his school to his competition, and that now he too can be suppressed. He tells the chief that he must face his dark side and bring hope to the world.
