In this chapter, Lise tries to control the slaves, but she can't. She's invisible to Lise. Lise says she's going to destroy the "divine blood" and create a new home for her brothers. She doesn't want Lise to kill her, but Lise is too weak to do it. She tells Lise she'll send him back to his brothers, and Lise thinks he's crazy. She wonders if it's because Lise has "occupied a subject" and "possessed human nature" , or if Lise just wants to be left alone to deal with Lise's "analytic question" . She says Lise should focus on stopping the stone statues, because they're the ones who caused all the problems in the first place. The stone statues are trying to hold Lise back, but he'll fight them anyway. He's not dead yet, he says, and he still has time to stop Lise before she kills him. He says he'd still like to stop her, because she has already done it. He curses Lise and curses his brothers for not showing up to help him.
