He asks if the flame demon gave him the token because he wanted to save Lan, or if he gave it for the sake of Lan's sake. The group is shocked, and the city lord says that he's not angry yet. He's going to demolish the statues on the top of the mountain soon, he says. Lan is afraid of dying, and he wants to mock him by swallowing him into his stomach. The two of them live in fear and pain, but they're not the same person. They're free and unrestrained, and they have always been in pain and confinement. Lan says that the sacrifice of his life to save him will help him understand the meaning of life, but that he needs to use up his own energy to dispel the ghost-face token's power.
