In the forest outside of fiendfire city, Lan asks the village elder if he can save the village. The elder tells Lan that the villagers have developed "self-consciousness" after being revived, and that refreshing them will erase this. Lan tells the elder that he will discuss the matter with the other villagers, but that he is worried that if the situation continues, the whole village will be overrun with mindless creatures. He asks the elder to take back the money raised by the elder for the rebuilding of the village, and Lan thanks the elder and the other heroes for their kindness. He tells the heroes that he plans to finish what his brother has promised, and if that is the truth, he will definitely finish what he promised.
