About This Chapter
In this chapter, we learn that the Ming court has been training the young man to be a court jester, and that he has no idea who he is or what he is supposed to do. The Ming court wants to know why he is being trained. The young man tells them that he is not a part of the Ming manchu, but he does not deny that he was once a member of a royal family in the east. He explains that he had to drown himself on a boat, and then he was rescued by the Ming woman, who rescued him and brought him back to China. He says that the vassal states of the east are Japan, North Korea, and Hong Kong, and he would not allow any merchant ships to pass through them. He also says that there are pirates in the area, and North Korea is being attacked by the taiji-hong's troops. He adds that he came to China because he could speak well, and also because he knows about the internal politics of Ming dynasty. He tells the court that he could not have been trained by the royal family because the royal woman probably did not think that he would call himself a royal member. He then says that if there is a chance that he might be framed by zhou, then it is not uneconomical.
